Shimla, 16th August 2024: The 10th International Film Festival of Shimla (IFFS) kicked off today at the Gaiety Heritage Cultural Complex, transforming the city into a cinematic hub.

The festival was inaugurated by Dr. Pankaj Lalit, Director of the Department of Language & Culture, Himachal Pradesh. In his opening remarks, Dr. Lalit highlighted the festival's importance in promoting Shimla as a key destination for arts and cinema and fostering international cultural exchange.

National Award-winning actress Seema Biswas was the star guest, engaging in a lively interaction with the audience after the screening of her latest film.

She shared insights on her career and the evolving landscape of Indian cinema, emphasizing the growing opportunities for regional filmmakers.

The festival, featuring 105 films from 27 countries and 22 Indian states, will continue over the next two days with screenings, panel discussions, and masterclasses.

The event also includes a special exhibition honoring Bollywood legends Raj Kapoor and Dev Anand. 

Notably, simultaneous screenings were held at Model Central Jail Kanda and Nahan, allowing inmates to participate in the festival.
