Body of Vetri Duraisamy found in Satluj River

 The deceased's body has been transferred to IGMC Shimla for postmortem examination, following which it will be handed over to the relatives for final rites, said Sanjay Kundu,   the DGP Himachal Pradesh.

A Tyota Crysta with three occupants had plunged into the Satluj river near Kashang Nallah, Tehsil Kalpa, District Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh on February 4th, 2024.

The accident resulted in the unfortunate demise of one individual, while another was found injured and a third person Vetri went missing.

The injured individual, identified as Mr. Gobinath, aged 32, hailing from Palayam, Vellakovil, Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu, was promptly shifted to IGMC Shimla for medical attention.

Tragically, the body of Tenzin, a resident of VPO Tabo, District Lahaul Spiti, HP, was retrieved from the river, confirming his demise.

The missing person, Vetri Duraisamy, aged 45, from H. No. 28, 1st Main Road, CIT Nagar, Nandanam, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, remained unaccounted for following the accident.

Notably, Vetri Duraisamy is the son of Shri S. Doraiswamy, former Mayor of Chennai.

A case has been registered under FIR No. 09/24 dated 04.02.2024 U/s 279, 337, 304A IPC at Police Station Reckong Peo regarding the incident.

In a bid to locate the missing individual, an extensive joint search operation spanning from February 4th to February 12th, 2024, was conducted by District Police alongside ITBP, NDRF, Navy, SDRF Uttarakhand, Home Guards, and divers of Mahun Nag Association, with drone technology also employed in the search efforts.

Director General of Police, Himachal Pradesh, commended the concerted efforts of the team led by Sh. Naveen Jhalta, HPS, Dy.SP (HQ) District Kinnaur, for their unwavering professionalism, dedication, and diligent work in the face of adversity.
