New Delhi/Shimla, Jan 8 : Himachal Pradesh PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh on Wednesday met Union Minister for Rural Development, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan to press for faster approvals under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana-IV (PMGSY-IV).
Singh said PMGSY-IV is crucial for the hill state, where roads are the lifeline of rural connectivity. He informed that Himachal has proposed 294 road projects covering 1,538 km, aimed at providing all-weather connectivity to over 250 habitations, including 429 currently unconnected villages. The total project outlay stands at Rs 2,309 crore.
Urging early clearance, he said timely approvals would accelerate rural infrastructure and boost socio-economic development in remote areas.
The PWD Minister also sought release of Rs 76 crore pending from the Centre for ongoing road works, stating that funds are vital for completing projects on time.
Singh further raised the issue of three left-out road packages in Dodra Kwar (Larot–Kiterwari) under PMGSY-I, citing the region’s extreme remoteness and tough terrain. He requested special consideration to ensure dependable road access for residents.
Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan assured full cooperation, directing officials to expedite the release of pending funds and promising to take up the Dodra Kwar issue at the appropriate level.
