Metropol Building Declared Unsafe, No Accommodation for MLAs: CM Sukhu Requests Speaker

SHIMLA: Shimla’s historic Metropol Building has been declared unsafe, and Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has requested Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania not to allot accommodations to MLAs in the structure.

Responding to a question by BJP MLA Vipin Singh Parmar in the Vidhan Sabha, CM Sukhu announced that ₹38 crore had been sanctioned for constructing a new building, and the government was prepared to spend an additional ₹100 crore if needed that speaks volumes how MLAs Enjoy privileges over and above other sections of society.

There is no paucity of funds for MLAs,  only digital media is facing  discrimination on the platitudes of lack of funds.  THe government is spending lavishly on bill boards and hoardings in city and other parts of Himachal.

The new structure will also include an in-house parking facility.

Government employees currently residing in Metropol will be relocated to alternative accommodations. The government has also planned to provide house rent allowances ranging from ₹10,000 to ₹15,000 for affected employees.

The CM assured that the entire Metropol Building would be vacated within the next two months.
