Mega Legal Services Camp Draws Massive Participation in Kinnaur
Reckong Peo, November 1:
A Mega Legal Services Camp, held under the banner of NALSA and the Himachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (HPSLSA), drew an impressive crowd of nearly 1,000 people at the Mini Stadium in Reckong Peo on Saturday.
The camp, organised by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Kinnaur, focused on three key themes — Drug-Free Society, Environmental Protection, and Disaster Victim Rehabilitation.
Shri Ranjeet Singh Thakur, Member Secretary of HPSLSA, presided over the event as the chief guest. He was joined by DLSA Secretary Shri Jitender Kumar, Assistant Commissioner to the Deputy Commissioner Shri O.P. Yadav, and officials from various departments.
The camp aimed to raise awareness in the tribal district about drug addiction, its harmful impact, and the support mechanisms available through Legal Services Institutions.
Sessions led by Legal Aid Defence Counsels, panel lawyers, and police personnel informed the public about their legal rights and avenues for assistance. Folk artists also performed to spread the anti-drug message in an engaging format.
In his address, Shri Thakur stressed the need to treat individuals battling addiction with compassion.
“Parents, teachers, and institutions must work together to uproot this social evil,” he said, while reminding the gathering that students and young people represent the nation’s future.
On environmental concerns, the Member Secretary urged citizens to live in harmony with nature and avoid damaging practices.
He also highlighted that Legal Services Institutions—from the national level down to Taluka units—are working to ensure justice for students, disaster victims, SC/ST communities, and weaker sections.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by DLSA Secretary Shri Jitender Kumar, who encouraged attendees to visit departmental stalls and register for welfare schemes.
The HPSLSA thanked the print and electronic media for their continued support in spreading legal awareness and sought their cooperation in future outreach initiatives.
