SHIMLA: In a generational shift, the Progressive Growers Association (PGA) on Sunday formally handed over its leadership to a new, younger executive team during a meeting of members held at Galu.
Marking the transition from experience to youthful energy, the outgoing team passed the baton to newly elected office bearers for the next three-year term, signalling a renewed push towards innovation and progressive horticulture practices in the state.
The newly elected executive members are:
President: Dinesh Pirta
Senior Vice President: Anu Sadhamta
Vice President: Ajaipal Chauhan
General Secretary: Ashit Singha
Finance Secretary: Arun Sharma
Joint Secretary 1: Praveen Negi
Joint Secretary 2: Rishab Chauhan
The election and smooth transition of leadership took place in the presence of PGA members, who expressed confidence that the new team would carry forward the association’s legacy while injecting fresh ideas to tackle emerging challenges in horticulture.
The change in guard comes at a crucial time when growers across Himachal Pradesh are grappling with climate variability, market fluctuations, the need for sustainable practices and adaptable affordable plant material.
The outgoing leadership congratulated the new team and assured full support, emphasizing continuity alongside change.
Members described the moment as a “blend of experience and youth,” aimed at strengthening the voice of growers at both state and national levels.
With a young leadership now at the helm, expectations are high that the PGA will step up efforts in innovation, policy advocacy, and farmer outreach in the coming years.
