DEHRADUN, Sept 11: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today announced a relief package of Rs 1200 crore for flood and landslide-affected Uttarakhand during his visit to Dehradun, where he reviewed the massive damage caused by torrential rains and cloudbursts.

PM Modi also declared an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each for the families of those who lost their lives and Rs 50,000 for the injured. Children orphaned in the calamity will be covered under the PM CARES for Children scheme, ensuring their long-term welfare.

The Prime Minister, who met affected families, assured them of the Centre’s full support in rebuilding homes, schools, roads, and livestock aid. Financial help will be extended under a special project of PM Awas Yojana-Gramin for families whose houses were washed away.

Calling for a “multi-dimensional approach” to recovery, Modi said the government will work closely with the state and provide additional assistance after detailed assessments by inter-ministerial teams.

He also lauded the NDRF, SDRF, Army, Aapda Mitra volunteers and local administration for their relentless rescue and relief operations.

“The Centre stands shoulder to shoulder with Uttarakhand in this hour of crisis,” the PM said, offering heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
