Shimla, April 27:

It was a walk down memory lane for the alumni of the erstwhile SDB College, now Rajkiya Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (RKMV), as the institution hosted its Second Alumni Meet with much fanfare on April 26 and 27.

Held almost after five decades, the meet turned into a heartwarming reunion, drawing former students from across India and even abroad, all united by a shared bond with their alma mater.

The gracious Principal, Dr. Anurita Saxena, along with her colleagues, left no stone unturned to make the two-day celebration a grand success.

From reliving old classroom memories to creating new ones, the atmosphere was charged with excitement and emotion.

A special moment of pride came when the alumni honoured their esteemed former Professor of Physics, Dr. Surjit Singh, for his contribution to academics and mentorship over the years.

Adding glitter to the occasion, senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Anand Sharma, himself an alumnus of the college, graced the meet on the second day. His presence brought a sense of immense pride and emotional resonance for all gathered.

"These were great days and beautiful moments, a true déjà vu," shared Prof. N.S. Bisht, an alumnus who later retired as Professor of Economics from Himachal Pradesh University.

The celebrations weren’t just about speeches and felicitation. Giving the event a strong Himachali flavour, alumni performed the traditional Pahari Natti, showcasing their cultural roots.

The gathering also saw the participation of noted alumni like Ramesh Thakur and his brothers, known for their "Five Stars" contracting enterprise.

The two days will undoubtedly be etched in the hearts of all who attended, as a testament to the lasting bonds forged at SDB College — bonds that distance and decades could never diminish.
