Shimla, June 11: Rajesh Kumar Chandel has assumed charge as Director (Projects) of SJVN, a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Power. He was welcomed by SJVN Chairman and Managing Director Bhupender Gupta and other senior officials in New Delhi.
Chandel was previously serving as OSD to the CMD and had been heading SJVN's Nepal-based subsidiaries, overseeing the 900 MW Arun-3 and 669 MW Lower Arun hydroelectric projects.
With over 35 years of experience in the power sector, particularly in hydropower, Chandel has held key positions in major projects across India, Nepal and Bhutan, including the 1020 MW Punatsangchhu-II project in Bhutan and the 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station in Himachal Pradesh.
A native of Hamirpur district, Chandel is a Civil Engineer, MBA, Fellow of The Institution of Engineers (India) and a Chartered Engineer.
