Your Money, Your Rights: Himachal Vigilance Urges Public to Report Bribes Without Fear
SHIMLA: Every rupee lost to corruption is money stolen from better roads, schools, hospitals, and jobs. With this core message, the Himachal Pradesh State Vigilance & Anti-Corruption Bureau is launching a week-long state campaign from October 26 to November 1 to turn ordinary citizens into active watchdogs.
The bureau’s appeal is direct and simple: “Corruption costs you. Report it. You are protected.”
Instead of holding closed-door meetings in Shimla, vigilance teams are heading straight to the grassroots:
In Your Village and Town: Officers will visit Gram Sabhas, colleges, and local markets to explain how and where to report bribe demands without fear of harassment.
Easy Reporting via QR Codes: Public spots will feature quick-scan QR codes and simple bilingual guides showing exactly how to file a complaint and what details are needed.
Cultural Outreach: Street plays (nukkad nataks), folk songs, and traditional Kariyala performances will break down anti-corruption laws into everyday language.
Fixing Broken Systems: On October 28, the department will sit down with public-facing government offices to remove unnecessary bottlenecks and stop bribery before it starts.
State police chief Ashok Tewari emphasized that police cannot end graft alone—citizens must speak up.
Campaign coordinator Narvir Singh Rathour added that the true success of this drive will be measured not by speeches, but by how confident citizens feel when standing up against corrupt practices.
The campaign kicks off across all police stations on October 26 with a public integrity pledge, followed by a state-wide “Run for Integrity” on October 31.
