“Bureaucracy Running Riot, CM Compromised”: Jairam Thakur’s Sharp Attack on Sukhu Govt

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh’s political heat spiked on Tuesday as Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur launched a scathing attack on the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu government, accusing it of losing control over the administration.

Addressing a press conference, Thakur alleged that “bureaucracy is running riot in the state” and claimed that the Chief Minister is being “made to dance on the fingers of officials.”

He said the system is locked in a dangerous power tussle, where “ministers hold files on officers, and officers hold files on ministers,” leaving governance paralysed. “The Chief Minister and top bureaucracy are entangled in this mess,” he added.

In a direct charge, Thakur said the Chief Minister appears “compromised” and lacks the courage to act against erring officials.

Warning of fallout, he said such internal conflict is already hurting governance and could further impact development and public service delivery if not checked.
