ED Action Sends Shockwaves Through Hotel Industry, Properties Worth ₹15.78 Cr Attached in Patnitop Scam
Chandigarh/Jammu, June 30:
The Enforcement Directorate (ED), Jammu, has stirred the hornet’s nest in the Union Territory’s hospitality sector by provisionally attaching immovable assets worth approximately ₹15.78 crore in connection with the Patnitop Development Authority (PDA) case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002.
The action, taken on June 27, includes prime properties—land, buildings, and income accrued from three prominent hotels in Patnitop: Hotel Pine Heritage, Hotel Dream Land, and Hotel Shahi Santoor.
All three establishments are well-known in the popular hill destination of Patnitop, and the ED's move has created ripples among hoteliers across Jammu and Kashmir.
Industry insiders say the crackdown has sent a clear message—regulatory scrutiny is intensifying in tourism zones that were earlier considered safe havens for benami deals and unaccounted money.
This latest action is being seen as a major jolt to those operating in grey zones under the guise of tourism infrastructure.
