Tiranga Yatra Amid Snowfall: Patriotism Soars at 13,500 ft in Pangi’s Chasak Bhatori

Killar, Pangi Valley – While the plains of North India reeled under intense heatwaves, it was a contrasting sight in Himachal’s remote Pangi valley where it snowed even in mid-May. Undeterred by the icy winds and swirling snowflakes, locals of Chasak Bhatori – perched at a dizzying height of 13,500 ft – held a spirited Tiranga Yatra led by BJP MLA and neurosurgeon-turned-politician Dr Janak Raj.

Tribal women, children, and BJP workers wrapped in woollens and draped in tricolours braved the sub-zero temperatures to raise patriotic slogans and slam Pakistan for "breeding terrorism". Loud chants of “Bharat Mata ki Jai” and “Pakistan Murdabad” echoed through the snow-clad mountains as residents marked their support for the Indian Army’s recent Operation Sindoor.

Dr Janak Raj, who represents the Bharmaur constituency, shared photos from the event showing snow-draped terrain and residents holding the national flag high.

“Even snow can’t chill our love for the Tiranga,” he said.

The Pangi valley, which shares a border with Jammu and Kashmir, has always held strategic importance, and locals said the Yatra was their way of sending a strong message of national unity and defiance.

“The whole country needs to see how even at this height, in the middle of snowfall, the people of Pangi are standing with the nation,” added Dr Raj.

This high-altitude celebration served not just as a patriotic display but also a reminder of the resilience and spirit of the Himalayan frontier communities.
