Shimla: A breakthrough was achieved by the police team of Suni under the ongoing special anti-drug campaign. The police recovered 18 grams of chitta/heroin from a car during a naka checking operation at Gharat Nala area.

According to police, on May 13, 2026, a team from Himachal Pradesh Police intercepted a suspicious car coming from the Shimla side at Gharat Nala.

The vehicle was searched in the presence of independent witnesses during the naka checking operation.

During the search, the police recovered 18 grams of chitta/heroin concealed inside the vehicle. The accused occupants of the car were taken into custody and a case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered.

Police said further investigation is underway to trace the source and supply chain of the contraband.

Officials reiterated that the crackdown against drug trafficking and abuse will continue with strict action against those involved in the narcotics trade.
