Unveiling of Virbhadra Singh's Statue on June 23 to Be a Historic Event: Vikramaditya Singh
Shimla, June 2: The unveiling of a statue of six-time Himachal CM late Virbhadra Singh at The Ridge in Shimla on June 23 will be a historic occasion, announced PWD Minister and Raja Virbhadra Singh Foundation Chairman Vikramaditya Singh.
Addressing the Foundation’s first general body meeting in Shimla, Vikramaditya said while it is an official state function, the Foundation will fully support the government in making it a grand event.
Supporters from Himachal and other states, along with top Congress leaders, will be invited. The Governor, CM, ministers, legislators (past and present), opposition leaders, and senior officials will also attend.
He thanked CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and his Cabinet for respecting public sentiment and approving the statue’s installation. He also acknowledged Congress national leaders including Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Rajeev Shukla, and Rajni Patil for their support.
Vikramaditya clarified the Foundation is apolitical and open to all who admire Virbhadra Singh’s legacy, calling him a towering figure in state and national politics whose ideals continue to inspire.
The Foundation aims to work in areas of social responsibility, youth welfare, and public service. Preparations for the June 23 event were discussed in the meeting, with another meeting scheduled on June 15 to finalize committees and logistics.
