PresidentTrumpAddressAmericans

NEW DELHI, FEB 28:

US President Donald Trump on Saturday addressed  Americans to announce what he described as a massive joint American–Israeli military strike against Iran, marking a dramatic escalation in tensions in West Asia.

In a televised address, Trump said US forces, acting in coordination with Israel, had launched precision strikes on multiple targets inside Iran, including missile infrastructure and facilities linked to Tehran’s nuclear programme. He said the operation was aimed at eliminating “imminent threats” to the United States and its allies.

“A short time ago, the United States military began major combat operations alongside Israel,” Trump said, asserting that the action was taken to ensure Iran is never able to acquire a nuclear weapon.

He accused the Iranian regime of decades of hostility towards the US, citing attacks on American personnel and long-standing threats against Israel.

Referring to the loss of American lives in past Iran-linked attacks, Trump said the strike was also about accountability and deterrence.

“This is about protecting our people and preventing future bloodshed,” he said, while acknowledging that military action carries risks and could result in casualties.

In a rare direct message to Iranian citizens, the US President urged civilians to remain safe during the strikes and hinted at the possibility of political change in the future, saying the conflict was not directed at the Iranian people but at what he called a “dangerous regime”.

The address comes amid heightened global concern, with world leaders urging restraint and warning that further escalation could destabilise the region and disrupt global energy markets.

Iran has not immediately issued an official response, though state media reported explosions in and around key military installations.
