‘Mediation for Nation 3.0’ Special Drive to Target Pending Cases in Himachal
SHIMLA: The Himachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (HPSLSA) has launched the “Mediation for Nation 3.0” special campaign to facilitate speedy and amicable settlement of pending cases through mediation.
The nationwide campaign is being organised under the aegis of the Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee (MCPC) of the Supreme Court of India.
In Himachal Pradesh, the drive is being conducted under the patronage of Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court and Patron-in-Chief, HPSLSA, Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia.
The campaign is aimed at encouraging consensual settlement of disputes, reducing prolonged litigation and helping bring down case pendency in courts.
It seeks to promote mediation as an alternative dispute resolution mechanism offering speedy, affordable and accessible justice.
Under the campaign, suitable pending cases will be identified and referred for mediation, giving litigating parties an opportunity to resolve their disputes through mutual consent with the assistance of trained mediators.
HPSLSA has appealed to litigants, advocates and other stakeholders to actively participate in the drive and opt for amicable settlement wherever possible.
The authority has also sought extensive media coverage to create awareness about the campaign and enable people across Himachal Pradesh to avail themselves of mediation as a means of resolving disputes.
