Shimla, June 27: BJP Rajya Sabha MP collapsed while addressing party workers during a protest demonstration outside the Deputy Commissioner's office here on Friday.
Eyewitnesses said Mahajan suddenly felt unwell while speaking at the gathering and collapsed at the venue. Party leaders and workers immediately rushed to his aid.
He was taken to Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) Hospital in a nearby HRTC taxi that happened to be there incidentally by Chopal MLA Balbir Verma and BJP Mandal president Keshav Chauhan and others immediately. Doctors at IGMC attended to him upon arrival.
He is under observation at cardiac care unit of IGMC.
According to party leaders, Mahajan suffered from low blood pressure and dehydration.
Doctors at IGMC later reported that his condition was stable and that he was responding well to treatment.
The incident caused concern among BJP workers present at the protest, though relief followed after doctors confirmed that the senior BJP leader was out of danger and under medical observation.
Mahajan shared video saying he was well. He has been suffering from diarrhea for the last two days and feeling weak. He has recovered now and maybe discharged by evening.
