CII Northern Region Industry Captains Welcome Growth-Driven Union Budget 2026–27
Chandigarh, February 1:
Industry leaders of North India have welcomed the Union Budget 2026–27, calling it a steady, growth-focused roadmap that strengthens manufacturing, MSMEs, technology, infrastructure, and regional development.
At a Budget Viewing Session organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Northern Region at its Chandigarh headquarters, industry captains said the government’s ₹12.2 lakh crore capital expenditure push, along with targeted support for MSMEs, semiconductors, biopharma, and skilling, would deepen supply chains, attract investments, and generate jobs across Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir and Delhi NCR.
CII Northern Region Chairperson and ANAND Group Executive Chairperson Anjali Singh said the Budget offers focused support for MSMEs by improving access to growth capital and enabling sustainable scale-up. She termed India Semiconductor Mission 2.0 a major positive, noting its emphasis on indigenous equipment, materials, design capabilities and IP creation, which will help build strong domestic value chains and boost high-technology manufacturing.
Deputy Chairperson Puneet Kaura, MD & CEO of Samtel Avionics, described the Budget as pragmatic and industry-friendly. He said continued focus on MSME capacity building, financing, and supply-chain integration would help Indian enterprises move up the value curve.
Highlighting regional opportunities, Amit Jain, Chairman, CII Punjab, said the thrust on connectivity, services and sustainability will create jobs and strengthen linkages between tourism, MSMEs and regional supply chains. Echoing this, Vivek Verma, Vice Chair, CII Chandigarh, said the services-led growth push and sustainable infrastructure investments would boost connectivity and support local enterprises.
From the Himalayan perspective, Sanjay Suri, Vice Chairman, CII Himachal Pradesh, welcomed the focus on ecologically sustainable hiking and mountain trails, calling it a boost for responsible tourism and local livelihoods. He also said allocations under Biopharma Shakti would strengthen healthcare and manufacturing capabilities in the region.
CII Northern Region Director Rachna Jindal said the Budget signals continuity and stability, with a clear intent to accelerate industrial and technology-led growth. She noted that the measures announced are expected to spur investments, enhance MSME competitiveness, and reinforce North India’s role as a key engine of the national economy.
Overall, industry leaders agreed that the Budget strikes a balance between growth, sustainability and regional inclusion, and said CII will work closely with stakeholders to translate policy intent into on-ground outcomes.
