Shimla, May 1: Players of the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited (HPSEBL) men’s and women’s kabaddi teams, who clinched top honors in the recently concluded All India Electricity Control Board Kabaddi Championship at Bhattakufar, Shimla, met Board Chairman Sanjay Gupta today and presented their trophies.
The HPSEBL volleyball team, which bagged first prize at the national-level championship held in Maharashtra from April 17–22, was also felicitated.
Chairman Sanjay Gupta congratulated all the players and their coaches, highlighting the importance of physical fitness in the Board’s core mission of delivering 24x7 power to the state. He said sports are an integral part of HPSEBL’s culture and lauded the historic win of the women’s kabaddi team, which made its debut at the national level this year.
Gupta emphasized the growing participation of women in technical roles and assured continued support for organizing such events in the future.
Director Personnel Anurag Chander Sharma personally felicitated the winners and kabaddi coach Om Prakash Jasta.
The national kabaddi tournament, held from April 27–29, saw participation from 14 men’s and 4 women’s teams from power utilities across the country. HPSEBL emerged victorious in both categories—bringing pride to the Board and the state.
Also present were Secretary General of HPSEBL Sports Organization Er. Rakesh Thakur, Press Secretary Anurag Parashar, and other officials.
