Shimla: In a major gubernatorial reshuffle announced by the Centre, Shiv Pratap Shukla has been appointed as the new Governor of Telangana, while Kavinder Gupta, currently serving as Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, has been named the new Governor of Himachal Pradesh.

The appointments are part of a wider reshuffle of Governors and Lieutenant Governors across several states and Union Territories by the President of India.

Kavinder Gupta, a senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, will now move to Raj Bhavan in Himachal Pradesh to take charge as the state’s Governor. He succeeds Shiv Pratap Shukla, who has been shifted to Telangana.

Shukla, a seasoned politician who earlier served as a Union Minister and Member of Parliament, had been serving as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh. His transfer to Telangana marks another key administrative change in the ongoing gubernatorial reshuffle.

With the announcement, the process of transition at the Himachal Raj Bhavan is expected to begin soon, and Kavinder Gupta is likely to assume office after taking the oath in the coming days.
