PM MODI with CM Sukhu in Delhi

During the meeting, CM Sukhu sought PM's support to make Himachal Pradesh a fully green state. He updated the PM on the state's efforts toward this goal.

The CM asked for compensation to help the state move away from buying thermal power, aiming to rely entirely on green energy soon.

He highlighted the push for electric buses and sought approval for RIDF loans under NABARD to fund these buses.

He also discussed generating 1000 MW of hybrid solar and wind energy in Spiti, with plans to transmit it through a green corridor using the Sutlej basin's solar, wind, and hydro potential. Sukhu requested backing for a mega solar project in Spiti.

He brought up several unresolved power issues with the Central Government.

These included Himachal Pradesh's overdue share from BBMB, restoring Shanan Project rights and assets, and seeking a decision on free power royalty in projects under SJVN and NHPC.

The CM shared the state's plans to boost tourism, with Kangra set to become the tourism capital.

He stressed the need to expand Kangra airport and asked the Centre to cover 50 percent of land acquisition costs and provide a special grant for the expansion.

He proposed creating a Tourism SEZ to boost tourism, generate jobs, and drive economic growth, positioning Himachal Pradesh as a prime location for this initiative.

Sukhu also informed PM Modi about various development efforts in the state and asked for substantial financial help to recover from the severe losses caused by the last monsoons.

PM Modi attentively listened to the CM's requests and assured him of full support.

Accompanying the CM were Principal Secretary Finance Devesh Kumar, Secretary to Chief Minister Rakesh Kanwar, and Resident Commissioner Meera Mohanty.
