Dehradun: Dehradun Police have arrested a wanted criminal carrying a reward of ₹10,000 in connection with an attempt-to-murder case, marking another success in the ongoing crackdown on criminals.
According to police, the accused had allegedly carried out a murderous assault on a man along with his associates. One co-accused involved in the case had already been arrested earlier and sent to jail, while efforts were underway to trace the remaining suspects.
SSP Dehradun Dobal said the arrest was the result of sustained efforts by police teams conducting intensive checks and surveillance across the district. He said the campaign against wanted criminals and anti-social elements would continue with full force.
Meanwhile, the SSP also dismissed reports circulating on certain social media platforms claiming that internet services had been suspended in the Sahaspur and Vikasnagar areas.
"The reports regarding the shutdown of internet services in Sahaspur and Vikasnagar are completely false, misleading and baseless. No such restrictions have been imposed," the SSP clarified.
He said police have intensified security measures across the district as a precautionary step. Separate teams are carrying out continuous checking operations at inter-district and interstate checkpoints, as well as at railway stations, bus terminals, airports and other sensitive locations.
The SSP added that Dog Squads and Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDS) teams have also been deployed to strengthen security arrangements and ensure public safety.
Police appealed to citizens not to pay heed to rumours and to rely only on information issued through official channels. Authorities warned that strict action would be taken against those found spreading misinformation on social media.
