SHIMLA: In a major effort to reduce road accidents, the Himachal Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) is overhauling police station boundaries.

The notice regarding delimitation of Police Stations in all 12  districts was issued here today  informed ASP TTR Narbir Rathour.

This project, assigned to the Aryabhatta Geo-Informatics and Space Application Centre (AGiSAC), will use geospatial technology to redefine jurisdictional limits.

Himachal DiGP TTR Gurdev Sharma said, "We aim to improve policing efficiency and reduce fatalities through precise boundary delineation.

But Only time will tell if this approach will deliver the expected results.

The Himachal Pradesh Police's new initiative aims to:

- Accurate Crime Mapping:Visualize where crimes are happening to target police efforts more effectively.

- Efficient Resource Allocation Deploy police resources based on crime patterns and locations.

- Enhanced Coordination: Clearly define police station boundaries to improve teamwork and reduce overlaps.

- Improved Response Time:Provide exact location data to help officers respond faster.

- Data-Driven Policing:Combine geographic information with crime data for better decision-making.

- Public Awareness:Help the community understand police areas, improving relations and awareness.

This partnership with AGiSAC highlights the Himachal Pradesh Police's commitment to using new technology for better public safety.
