The move comes after concerns were raised regarding the potential danger posed by these  flags tied to long stick, particularly in the event of wind storms which are common in the region.

Several bikers  coming from the Punjab were stopped by the police, notably after crossing the Atal Tunnel and reaching the north portal in Lahaul-Spiti.

This action was deemed a disregard for traffic regulations, invoking the Contravention Section of 1988 by the District Police. 

In a statement issued by the District Police, they appealed to the general public to prioritize adherence to traffic rules.

It was emphasized that the intention was not to infringe upon any religious or personal sentiments, but rather to safeguard lives on the road.

Placing flags on vehicles in such a manner was highlighted as a potential hazard, with fatal consequences in traffic situations.

Meanwhile, Lahaul-Spiti is witnessing a surge in tourist arrivals as the summer season has started bringing tourists from the plains informed Himaal Thakur who runs a hotel om Sashin in Lahaul Valley.

The breathtaking panoramic views of snow-clad valleys in the Himalayas continue to attract tourists from across India.
