SHIMLA/KULLU:  In a series of rescue operations, teams from the 14th Battalion of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been actively engaged in flash flood rescue efforts in Himachal Pradesh.

In Chururu, Ramshila, Kullu, they successfully evacuated one victim and one livestock.

Another NDRF team is en route on foot to Jari in the Manikaran Valley, Kullu, due to a roadblock 10 km from the Malana, where the village has been marooned and the Malana barrage was breached by the flash flood in Malana river.

They are attempting to reach the location swiftly to continue rescue efforts.

NDRF is trying to retrieve bodies from the debris in Samej khad. 

In Mandi district, a cloudburst in Rajban, Tikkan, in Joginder Nagar has damaged three houses, leaving over nine people missing. 

One dead body has been retrieved from the debris so far.

Rescue operations are ongoing to locate and aid the affected individuals. Three bodies have been recovered retrieved from the debris.

Adding to the region's turmoil, an earthquake of magnitude 3.2 struck Lahaul-Spiti at 1:11 AM IST on August 1, with a depth of 5 km. The quake's epicenter was located at 32.67 N latitude and 76.74 E longitude.

These natural disasters have caused significant damage, sending the Satluj and Beas rivers surging and wreaking havoc on highways and link roads across Kullu, Mandi, and Shimla districts. The NDRF's swift response is crucial in mitigating the impacts and ensuring the safety of the residents.

Meanwhile  Mandi  Kataula Kullu road is opened for traffic. Mandi- Aut highway stretch of Chandigarh Manali high is restored for one way traffic at several spots, informed SP Mandi.
