Shimla: The strech of the Ram Chander Chowk-The Ridge road near Machhi Wali Kothi has subsided, damaging two houses, causing a major disruption in traffic.
In case it rains heavily as it has been for tge last three days, the cracks will widen that can lead to a big landslide threatening the Houses, hotels below the damaged road.
A power pole is hanging dangerously over the road, and a private two-story house has been completely damaged due to the road slide.
While the houses below the road were fortunately vacant, nearby houses face a risk.
Above the road lies an out-house belonging to the Army, adding to the concerns.
The house beneath the road, which has sustained damage, is owned by Sanjay Rai, a resident of Kolkata.
Machhi Wali Kothi, the area affected by the subsidence, also houses the private residence of BJP State Media In-charge, Karan Nanda. There are ten houses in the vicinity that face threat.
According to Nanda the authorities, including the SP, DC, and the electricity department, have been informed and are actively addressing the situation.
