View of Srikhand Mahadev and pilgrims on way to the top in Kullu district

As a precautionary measure, the district collector Kullu has halted 2,491 pilgrims at the base camp in SinghGaad due to the forecast of heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh over the next 24 to 48 hours.

Responding to the situation, a team of 16 personnel from the Atal Bihari Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports, Manali has been deployed from Parvati Bag to assist the stranded pilgrims, who were missing.

The missing persons and dead one are yet to be identified.

In light of the adverse weather conditions, the Srikhand Mahadev Yatra has been canceled for two days, July 9 and 10, following a red alert issued by the IMD Centre in Shimla warning of heavy rainfall in the state.

The IMD Department predicts extremely heavy rain for tomorrow.

The rain-soaked path beyond Parvati Bag has made the pilgrimage perilous, prompting officials to postpone the yatra.

Restoration efforts are currently underway to mend the track beyond Parvati Bagh.

This unfortunate incident serves as a stark reminder of the risks involved in undertaking such pilgrimages during inclement weather conditions.

Authorities are working diligently to ensure the safety of the remaining pilgrims and are closely monitoring the situation as the rains persist.
