SRINAGAR:
In a major breakthrough, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested two individuals in connection with the brutal terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 innocent tourists, including a local pony operator and greviously injured 16 others on April 22, 2025.
The NIA has identified them as Parvez Ahmad Jothar from Batkote, and Bashir Ahmad Jothar from Hill park Pahalgam. They had disclosed their identies to NIA informing that they were the Pakistani nationals and affiliated to the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist outfit.
Johars gave them shelter at dhok, seasonal hut at Hill Park and food and stay before the gruesome terror attack, found NIA.
According to NIA, the arrested accused had provided shelter to the terrorists involved in the attack and provided them logistical support.. Acting on concrete leads, the NIA swooped in after the Ministry of Home Affairs officially handed over the case.
They have been booked under Section 19 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention), 1967.
The arrests come amid Operation Sindoor, India’s massive retaliatory strike that wiped out eight terror camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), and Pakistan sending a strong message across the border.
The Pahalgam attack had triggered nationwide outrage, with demands for swift justice and stronger security measures in the region.
The NIA is now probing deeper into the local support network and cross-border handlers involved in the conspiracy.
