Chandigarh, June 22 — The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a major chargesheet in the Punjab terror conspiracy case, tightening its grip on the deadly gangster-terror nexus.
The agency has named Jatinder Singh alias Joti, a close aide of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terrorist Lakhbir Singh Landa and gangster Pavittar Singh alias Batala, as a key accused.
Jatinder, a Gurdaspur native arrested in Mumbai last December, is accused of procuring and supplying illegal arms from Madhya Pradesh to Landa-backed gangs in Punjab — a vital link in the terror supply chain.
NIA revealed that Jatinder arranged weapons through Baljeet Singh alias Rana Bhai, already chargesheeted.
The arms were delivered directly to Pavittar Batala’s gang under Landa's command.
He operated using virtual numbers and encrypted apps to dodge surveillance.
The case is part of FIR RC-21/2023/NIA/DLI, tied to a larger crackdown on BKI-Pakistan-backed operatives like Landa and Harwinder Singh Rinda, who have been running proxy terror operations from abroad.
Earlier this month, the NIA raided 15 locations in Punjab and Haryana, unearthing evidence of deep gang links, extortion plots, and targeted killings.
More raids and arrests likely, as the NIA intensifies its hunt for handlers, funders, and suppliers in India and abroad.
