Shimla/Solan, May 9:

Amid rising tension between India and Pakistan, the Himachal Pradesh government has stepped up security preparedness across sensitive regions. An Emergency Operation Centre has been set up at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Shimla, which will remain functional 24x7, including holidays, as per state government orders.

District Magistrate Anupam Kashyap informed that the emergency centre can be reached via toll-free number 1077 or landline 0177-2800880 in case of any disaster or crisis situation.

Meanwhile, in a precautionary measure, the Solan DC Manmohan Sharma has announced a blackout in Parwanoo, Baddi, and Nalagarh tehsils from 8:00 PM tonight to 6:00 AM tomorrow.

All markets in these areas will close by 8 PM and no night shifts will be allowed in industrial units. Authorities have appealed to all citizens for cooperation.

In a related development, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu met Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla at Raj Bhavan today and briefed him on the state's readiness and steps being taken to ensure public safety in light of the current geopolitical situation.
