Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday launched Himachal Pradesh’s dedicated home stay registration portal — http://homestay.hp.gov.in — aimed at easing online registration and renewals for operators.
Taking a pro-tourism stance, the Chief Minister directed the Tourism Department to issue provisional renewal registrations to home stays pending Fire NOCs, making it clear that business should not suffer due to procedural delays or harassment.
Sukhu said the Home Stay Scheme is key to promoting self-employment and rural tourism, adding that its scope has now been expanded to urban areas, allowing registration of home stays with up to six rooms.
He underlined that home stays offer tourists a homely experience through local architecture and traditional cuisine, which also boosts the income of local families, especially in lesser-known destinations.
The CM also highlighted the state’s interest subsidy scheme for tourism units, offering 3% subsidy in urban areas, 4% in rural areas and 5% in tribal regions on term loans.
Importantly, the portal will also serve as a grievance redressal platform for home stay owners to raise issues and register the units.
