3 Held with 21 Grams of Chitta Near Shoghi, Two From Amritsar, One From Solan
Shimla, June 6:
In yet another crackdown against drug trafficking, Shimla Police arrested three persons and seized 21.07 grams of Chitta (heroin) from their possession during a routine patrol near Shoghi.
The arrest was made by the Special Cell team of Police Station West, Shimla under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (ND&PS) Act. According to the police, the accused have been identified as:
Anuj Kumar Duggal (41), a resident of Rawli village, PO Waknaghat, Kandaghat tehsil in Solan district of Himachal.
Puneet Pal Singh (39), son of Jaswinder Singh, resident of Sultanwind Road, Mohalla Kot Baba Deep Singh, District Amritsar, Punjab.
Agand Sawrawal (27), resident of Bhushan Pura, inside Sultanwind Gate, also from Amritsar, Punjab.
The trio was caught during routine checking when the police found suspicious movement and subsequently recovered the contraband.
A case under relevant sections of the ND&PS Act has been registered, and further investigation is on to ascertain the source of the heroin and possible links to wider drug networks.
Shimla Police reiterated its firm commitment to wipe out drug menace from the region and urged the public to remain vigilant and support their anti-drug campaign.
